More about Harmani
Harmani is a left-breaking beach break with a sandy bottom near Sozopol in east Bulgaria that does not work very often. The break responds best to east swells combined with northeast offshore winds and functions across all tide levels. The waves peel powerfully over sand, though the break remains uncrowded even when conditions are favorable.
The spot benefits from Bulgaria's broader winter swell season, when storms in the northern Black Sea send windswells down the coast. However, I found no specific record of competitions, notable sessions, or particular surfers associated with Harmani itself.
Access is straightforward from Sozopol's New Town district, about a kilometre from the town center. The beach is wider and longer than the central beach, making it a practical alternative during peak summer tourist season. Watch for rip currents and undertow typical of Black Sea beach breaks, along with navigational hazards from buoys and other marine infrastructure.
