More about Bells Beach
Bells Beach, also known as Djarrak, is on Wadawurrung Country near Torquay, Victoria. Sedimentary headlands border a small sandy beach, with surfing spread across Centreside, Rincon and the Bowl. Winkipop is a neighboring break east of the Bells headland. The Surf Coast Walk crosses the reserve with views of the surfing coast. The recreation reserve was formally designated in 1971 amid concern about damage to native vegetation. The coast authority dates the Rip Curl Pro name and introduction of prize money to 1973, distinct from the competition's earlier beginnings.
