About

Basalt fibre is a new technology that's being introduced into many industries around the world. It's a woven cloth fabric like fibreglass but the actual fibre is made from volcanic basalt rock which gives it better mechanical properties than standard fibreglass. Jim has never been a fan of epoxy boards, but these are quite different. They sit over on a rail and run through the water like a PU. Overall the feel is much more like PU and they don't have that chattery, corky over buoyant feel of typical epoxies All our basalt boards are stringerless and instead have a carbon rod that is routed into the deck after shaping, before the board is glassed. We have found that this gives the boards just the right amount of spring and flex.
