Jim Banks is an Australian surfboard shaper and retired professional surfer known for his hand-shaped custom boards developed over 40+ years in Indonesia. He was ranked 8th in the world in 1981 and won the OM Bali Pro in 1980, notably becoming the first goofy-footer to win a major contest at Sunset Beach. After leaving competition, he has devoted himself to testing boards on previously undiscovered Indonesian reefs and refining designs for challenging conditions.
