More about Zeros
Zeros is a left-hand point break that peels roughly 150 meters down its boulder-strewn face, with powerful, hollow sections ideal for tubing. The wave handles conditions from waist-high up to triple overhead, working best on south to southwest swell with a north wind holding it up, particularly during mid to low tide. It's reserved for intermediate and advanced surfers given the power and technical demands of the break.
Access is straightforward via Nicholas Canyon County Beach's parking lot (151 spaces, daytime hours). The break is considerably less crowded than nearby Malibu point breaks, though when swell lines up properly the lineup does fill in. Submerged rocks present the primary hazard; paddling and positioning require local knowledge. The beach sits adjacent to the Wishtoyo Foundation's Chumash Discovery Village, an authentic recreation of traditional Chumash culture accessible by foot.
I could not find detailed historical information about when Zeros entered the surfing consciousness, notable competitions or sessions, or specific surfers associated with the break beyond general references to it being one of the few remaining quality point breaks in LA County. While a historical account titled "Zeros: A History" by Cal Porter exists online, its full contents were not accessible.
