More about Warriewood

Warriewood is a hybrid break combining beach, point, and reef features below tall cliffs on Sydney's northern beaches. The signature right-hand point peels into a channel, offering varied wave qualities depending on tide and swell angle. East to southeast swells from 1 foot up to triple overhead work best; the break holds its shape better than nearby open beaches during strong southern winds. Low to mid tide produces the most rideable waves. Bottom composition of sand and reef rock creates different surfing characteristics across sections, and crowding at the main point is typical on decent days.

Warriewood has been an established surf destination since at least 1950, when the local surf club was formally founded. The area produced surfer Damien Hardman, born there in 1966 and later a prominent professional competitor who won the Rip Curl Pro in 1988 and 1993 and claimed ASP World Tour titles in 1987–88 and 1991.

Access requires walking down a steep winding track from Pittwater Road to reach the 500-meter beach between Mona Vale Headland and Turimetta Head. Parking is limited; paid options exist at the beachfront, but free street parking on side roads above the beach with a cliff-path walk-down can be easier. Basic facilities including toilets, showers, and change rooms are available.
