More about Veneros
Veneros is a beach break with a slightly rocky character that produces fast-moving, punchy waves suitable for shortboard riding. Swells from the southwest work best, and the break performs well across most tidal ranges, though mid to high tide prevents the shallower sections from becoming unrideable. The spot attracts intermediate surfers and advanced beginners for its good-sized, shapely waves and relatively light crowds even during swells.
The spot sits on the exposed eastern flank of the Punta Mita peninsula, closer to Cruz de Huanacaxtle than to Punta Mita proper. Access requires heading north on the coastal highway past La Cruz and Destiladeras toward Punta de Mita. Urchins and rocks create hazards to watch for, particularly at lower tidal stages when the shallower sections of the break are exposed.
