More about Towradgi
Towradgi is a beach break with left and right handers that works consistently year-round except for summer flatness. Southeast swell combined with westerly winds produces the cleanest waves, with winter—particularly July—offering the most reliable conditions. The break handles waves at all stages of the tide and works for a range of abilities, from beginners on smaller days to intermediate surfers seeking more challenging conditions.
The Towradgi Surf Club has a long presence at this spot, anchoring a local surfing community that extends across the broader Wollongong region. The area has hosted significant regional and state-level competitions, and sits within the Illawarra coast's established surfing infrastructure.
Access is straightforward: free parking and picnic areas with barbecues sit behind the three-kilometre beach, which features a saltwater rock pool at its southern end. The beach operates 24/7 and welcomes swimmers, fishers, and surfers alike. A Surf Life Saving club operates on site, and dog access is available during designated times.
