More about Tiburon

Tiburón is a classic sand-bottom point break that produces extended rides typically extending 150 to 200+ yards when conditions align. The wave responds consistently to south and southwest swell directions and accommodates surfers across all skill levels, from beginners to advanced practitioners. Morning sessions tend to offer glassy conditions with possible offshore winds, while afternoon sessions see stronger westerly to southwesterly onshore winds develop; the point provides some natural wind protection compared to exposed beaches in the area.

Tiburón has established itself as one of the two signature waves around Cardón (alongside Milagro), and the break has been specifically designed into the resort infrastructure there, suggesting a longer history as a destination spot. The wave attracts resort guests, local surfers, and a steady but limited trickle of traveling surfers, keeping crowds minimal compared to more accessible breaks elsewhere on the coast.

Access is concentrated through Cardón Resort, located on a secluded beach north of Mazatlán. The break receives best swell during the wet season from April through October, when southern hemisphere swells and local hurricane activity generate consistent energy. The drier winter months of November through March bring smaller waves but cleaner offshore wind conditions.
