More about Surfside

Surfside is a summer-focused sand break where south swells refract off the Huntington Harbor jetty to form pronounced A-frame wedges. The break has two distinct named sections—The Bowl and The Hole—that generate hollow, shapely waves when conditions align. During massive west swells the jetty can produce steep, powerful wedges, but this is expert terrain requiring clean winds and significant swell period to hold shape. The sand is mobile due to ongoing replenishment, which means conditions vary season to season, and the break performs most consistently when that sand is stacked correctly.

Access is guard-gated and awkwardly routed. Entry from the south requires driving nearly half a mile into Seal Beach to find a turnaround, then returning northbound on PCH to access Surfside. This access friction keeps the spot quieter than nearby Seal Beach or Huntington Beach piers.
