More about Seal Beach Pier, Northside

Seal Beach Pier's north side is a sheltered beach break where waves refract off the seawall into fast, hollow lefthanders across an inside sandbar, with an additional shorter right peak breaking near the wall. On most days it produces small, well-shaped waves that are beginner-friendly, but large west-northwest swells transform the pier bowls into steep, demanding surf. The spot needs southwest groundswell combined with northeast offshore winds to work best, favoring early morning sessions and low to incoming tide stages. Hazards include strong localized currents, stingrays on the bottom, and a heavy local presence.

Access involves two parking lots at Eisenhower Park: one entered from 8th Street on the north and another from 10th Street on the south, with additional free parking available at First Street. The pier is reached via Seal Beach Boulevard (which becomes Ocean Avenue) heading toward Main Street, with the location sitting at Orange County's northernmost beach town.
