More about Scott Creek

Scott Creek is a right reef break on the north end of the beach where the primary wave action centers, generating fast, hollow sections when overhead winter swells arrive from the northwest. The reef handles size well and can produce barrels extending 100 meters on strong swells. Wave heights range from small summer peaks of 3–5 feet to double overhead in winter storms. The best conditions align northwest swell with offshore east winds. Water temperature stays around 59°F year-round, demanding a spring or full wetsuit. The break works through all tidal stages, though it favors intermediate to advanced surfers comfortable with a technical, powerful wave that can churn aggressively in larger conditions.

The spot sits in a protected county park setting between two large coastal bluffs, roughly half a mile of beach with a rocky point creating the consistent reef break on the northern end. Parking is free along Highway 1 shoulders, though crossing the narrow two-lane highway can be hazardous. There are no facilities—no restrooms, water, or services—keeping the beach relatively uncrowded compared to more developed coastal breaks. The area has become a dual-use spot, with morning and evening surfers coexisting with afternoon kite and wind surfers who take advantage of the steady sea breeze.
