More about Sapphire St.
Sapphire Street is a right-hand sandbar break on the south side of the Redondo Beach jetty at King Harbor's southern end. The wave works on southwest to northwest swell with west swell being ideal, producing waves from 1 to 6 feet. It performs best at low tide with easterly wind, and while it picks up considerably less swell than the nearby Topaz Street jetty break, it becomes a reliable option when northwest wind blows out other local peaks. The break tends to stay smaller and cleaner than breaks to the south, delivering quick, peeling rights over sand.
The spot has drawn a consistent local following as a beginner-friendly option in the Redondo area, with easy parking available on the Esplanade and Knob Hill. Access is straightforward through Topaz Street to reach the beach. Winter from November through March produces the most consistent surf, with January historically among the best months.
