More about Santa Cruz
Santa Cruz is a left point break that requires substantial southwest swell to produce quality waves. When conditions align, the break stretches along a boulder-lined cliff and peels consistently over a rocky and sandy bottom, offering long, rippable walls for capable surfers. The break reliably works between three and eight feet, with September and summer months offering the most consistent swells. Low to mid tide with easterly winds produces the cleanest conditions.
The spot remains relatively undocumented in terms of notable surf history or competitions, though it is regionally recognized as a capable performance break and occasionally delivers world-class sessions during large southern hemisphere groundswell events.
Santa Cruz is a small fishing village situated south of San Blas in Riviera Nayarit. The village provides direct access to the break, though the terrain is rugged with steep jungle meeting the shoreline. A secondary wave at the adjacent river mouth can produce rideable lefts when the main point is too small.
