More about San Simeon
San Simeon is a reef break that works across a combination bottom, producing both left and right-hand waves. The spot receives distant groundswells most reliably from the southwest, with northeast winds keeping the surface clean. It performs best in autumn—particularly September through October—though spring also delivers rideable chest-high swell. Mid-tide conditions are generally optimal. The break remains uncrowded relative to other central coast options.
Location and access via Highway 1 center on the northern end of San Simeon, with parking available at Pico Avenue leading to a short beach walk down to the reef. An alternate approach uses the bluff trail from Vista Del Mar, requiring an easy hike to reach the break. The spot sits within the broader coastal stretch known informally as the Lost Coast for its remote and undeveloped character.
