More about San Hipolito
San Hipolito is an exposed reef and beach break with consistent surf and multiple peaks spread along the shoreline, typically producing waves in the 2 to 5-foot range with a direct south-southwest swell and offshore winds from the north-northeast, particularly strong in summer. The break accommodates both left and right-hand waves across sandy and reef sections. Low to mid tide is best. Low to mid tide is ideal. Difficulty is moderate; while waves can be accessible for beginners at smaller sizes, the reef sections and occasional bigger swells require caution.
The spot sees very few surfers even during good conditions, making it possible to find uncrowded peaks up and down the beach. Hazards include strong rips, sharks, and rocks scattered through the break.
San Hipolito is accessed by a dirt road from Bahía Asunción, the nearest town. The remote location and primitive road infrastructure keep crowds minimal, though reaching it requires reliable transportation on unimproved roads.
