More about Saltwater Point

Saltwater Point is a right-hand point break near Old Bar where the wave peels for 100 to 150 meters depending on swell size. The break is fast and hollow, developing occasional barrels when conditions align, and works across a range of sizes from around 1.5 to 4 feet. The sandy and rocky bottom provides varied hold and features a distinctive rock point that creates the long peel; paddling in typically involves jumping off the point to avoid timing issues over the sharp, barnacle-encrusted rocks at the takeoff.

Best swell arrives from the southeast to northeast, with the wave responding favorably to south to southwest winds. Winter, particularly May, offers the most consistent and clean conditions. The spot begins working properly above 1.5 to 2 feet and holds its shape well up to overhead sizes.

Saltwater Beach itself sits within a picnic reserve setting and draws swimmers to a warm, shallow saltwater lagoon in the creek area, making it a mixed-use beach. Access is straightforward via parking near the reserve, though the break often draws a crowd.
