More about Safety Beach
Safety Beach is a sandy beach break with adjacent reef that produces reasonably consistent surf, especially during autumn and winter months. The break responds best to east-southeast swell paired with offshore winds from the west-southwest, with mid-tide conditions on falling tide offering the best shape. Submerged rocks around Woolgoolga Reef create a genuine hazard and contribute complexity to the break's character.
Safety Beach sits at the northern end of a 1.2 km stretch before Mullaway Head, with Woolgoolga's larger beach and headland extending south. The Woolgoolga shopping centre and caravan park sit adjacent to the southern sections, along with the Woolgoolga Surf Life Saving Club facilities nearby. Access is straightforward from the town, though the beach currently has no active lifeguard patrols.
