More about Roads End
Roads End is an exposed beach and reef break featuring both left and right-hander waves across a sand and rock bottom. It works year-round but shows most consistent rideable shape during winter months, particularly January. Intermediate-level surfers can find waves between 50 and 150 meters when conditions align, though the break can crowd significantly when firing.
Best conditions develop with west swell and east (offshore) wind, which create the cleanest faces. The break functions across different swell states—smaller days favor the beach breaks, while larger swells shift emphasis to the offshore reef sections. Tide generally works around mid-tide, though many sections hold shape through the tidal range, giving surfers flexibility in timing.
Roads End State Recreation Site sits at the north end of Lincoln City with direct parking access via Logan Road about a mile from the main highway. The site includes public facilities with parking requiring a day-use permit, though availability fills quickly on popular days. The location is relatively accessible, making it a frequent stop for local and regional surfers working the central Oregon coast.
