More about Razo

Razo is a long sandy beach break that stretches across multiple kilometers facing northwest, with variable peaks and a sandy bottom allowing waves to peel for up to 100 meters. The central section features a rocky outcrop that produces consistent right handers, while the wider flanks offer softer beach breaks suitable for different skill levels. The beach handles all tide stages and is most consistent with northwest swell and southerly offshore winds. In summer, conditions tend toward waist to head-high waves good for progression; winter Atlantic storm swells bring significantly larger and more powerful conditions suited to intermediate and advanced surfers. Strong rips near the sandbars and variable conditions make this less forgiving than a pure beginner's beach despite frequent use by surf schools.

The beach has quietly built a reputation as one of Galicia's most reliable year-round waves, hosting several surf camps and becoming part of the region's quietly growing surf culture. Specific historical detail about when the spot was first surfed or notable competitions and surfers is not well documented in available sources.

Razo sits near Carballo in A Coruña province about 45 kilometers from the city center, on Spain's Costa da Morte. The wide, accessible beach includes parking, toilets, showers, and sits within the Razo-Baldaio protected natural area. Multiple peaks along the beach mean you can usually find space even on busier days, and the break rarely gets crowded despite its consistent quality and growing reputation.
