More about Raglan

The coast at Raglan in Waikato includes three distinct point breaks that peel left: Indicators, Whale Bay and Manu Bay. Indicators is the outermost, Whale Bay lies between it and Manu Bay, and Manu Bay is the innermost. A Waikato Regional Council technical report describes rocky reef and boulders at Whale Bay and several linked sections at Indicators. In a July 2026 event recap, the council identifies Manu Bay as the competition site. Its marine scientist explains how incoming swell refracts around the headlands and how the headland can shelter Manu Bay from southwesterly winds. Nearby Ngarunui, also known as Wainui or Ocean Beach, is a separate beach with several surf peaks.
