More about Punta Blanca

Punta Blanca is a long right-hand point break that breaks on rock bottom, capable of producing rides extending up to 100 meters across exposed reef and rocky terrain. The wave performs best on west and northwest swells with swell periods of 12 seconds or longer, responding well to northeast offshore wind. Winter months deliver the most consistent conditions, with January typically offering the cleanest and most frequent waves. Year-round swell can produce rideable waves, though the break remains relatively fickle and variable depending on swell angle and period.

The area saw early surf exploration in 1971 when members of the San Onofre Surfing Club visited as part of an expedition to the Five Malibus point breaks along this stretch of Baja California. While historical records of notable sessions or competitions at the site are sparse in available sources, its inclusion among the celebrated Seven Sisters breaks suggests it has maintained appeal among traveling surfers seeking remote wave experiences.

Punta Blanca sits within the Seven Sisters grouping of seven point breaks stretching south from Punta Cono toward Punta Rosarito, located approximately 130 miles south of El Rosario in Central Baja California. Access requires a four-wheel-drive vehicle over remote terrain, making it an expedition destination rather than a casual day trip. Hazards include rip currents, rocky outcrops at and below the waterline, and historical shark sightings in the area.
