More about Praia do Beliche
Beliche is a hollow, wedge-shaped beach break on the western edge of a small cliff-bound cove, best surfed on northwestern swell combined with northerly offshore winds. The wave breaks on a shallow sand-and-rock floor at mid to high tide, producing fast, barreling peaks that peel left and right with quick hollow sections close to shore. This is strictly an advanced break; the paddle-in is heavy and the waves turn serious and dangerous above 1.5 meters, suited only to experienced surfers comfortable in powerful conditions.
Access requires descending roughly 100 steep steps carved into the 40-meter cliff face, which can be laborious when returning with a board. Parking at the top is limited and fills quickly in summer months, particularly on good-swell days. The beach sits only a few kilometers from central Sagres on Portugal's southwestern tip, making it relatively accessible compared to more remote breaks.
