Praia do Amado in the Algarve near Carrapateira is a sand beach break. A beginner-friendly spot that works in waves from multiple directions, with best results from northwesterly swell and easterly winds. Watch for submerged rocks at all tide levels, especially at low tide, and rips when the surf is large.
