More about Praia de Traba
Playa de Traba is an exposed beach break featuring both left and right peeling waves over a changeable sand bottom. The break extends across up to 50 meters and produces rideable waves at waist-high to double overhead heights. It responds well to northwest swell with southeast offshore winds, and while tide does not significantly limit performance, the break functions across the tidal cycle.
The break works consistently year-round but delivers the most predictable conditions during the northern hemisphere winter, with February typically being the peak month. The combination of stable sandbars and consistent groundswell produces waves in most conditions, making Traba reliable even during summer lulls when other regional breaks are quiet.
Playa de Traba sits within the Carnota municipality near Laxe along Galicia's western coast. The beach itself is adjacent to the notable rock formations of As Catedrais, which help define the spot's geography. The wide, sandy expanse allows for multiple takeoff zones and makes access straightforward compared to more technical nearby breaks.
