More about Playa Elefante (Isla Cedros)
Playa Elefante is a beach break with a sand bottom on Isla Cedros that holds waves from waist-high to double overhead, breaking left and right across roughly 50 meters of beach. Winter offers the most consistent conditions on west-to-northwest swell with southeast wind providing offshore conditions, though the area is known for being consistently windy. The break rarely attracts crowds.
Access requires either a short flight from Ensenada or a long drive south along Mexico 1, after which you'll need a boat to reach the island. The water stays several degrees cold year-round; surfers typically wear at least a spring wetsuit.
