More about Oued Cherrat
Oued Cherrat is a mixed beach-and-reef break with both left and right hand waves that work reliably at all tidal stages. Northwest swell paired with easterly winds produces the cleanest shape; the wave breaks for up to 50 meters over sand interspersed with rocks. Waist-to-overhead waves suit beginners on smaller days, but the spot develops more power and complexity at larger sizes, with strong rips and steep sections that demand intermediate skills. Rocks scattered through the break zone and sea urchins in shallow areas present the main hazards.
The spot has been surfed competitively for at least three decades, hosting the Moroccan national championship in 1997 and continuing to serve as a venue for national-level competitions. It holds status as a local favorite stretch of coast, with December offering the most consistent clean windows throughout the month compared to other seasons.
Oued Cherrat lies along the central Atlantic coast between Rabat and Casablanca, accessible via a dirt road leading off the main highway between Skhirat and Bouznika. Street parking is available at the entrance; the spot is a short walk from nearby town infrastructure and accommodations. Winter brings quieter crowds, while summer draws heavier local traffic. The accessible location from the Rabat-Casablanca corridor and relatively sheltered lineup—less frequented than major regional breaks—make it a practical base for multiday trips.
