More about Ocean Shores

Ocean Shores features distinct breaks shaped by Grays Harbor's jetty and sandbars along a sand-bottom beach. The North Jetty produces sheltered, manageable peaks that suit beginners through intermediate surfers, while Damon Point with its sandbar formations generates steeper, faster walls requiring experience, particularly in winter swell. The break works best with west-southwest swell and offshore east winds; January typically brings the most consistent rideable conditions. Rip currents and undertow are present at both breaks, and water temperatures remain cold year-round.

Vehicle beach access is permitted at multiple free parking areas distributed along the peninsula, providing straightforward entry to different sections and break locations. Tide tables should guide parking decisions to avoid being trapped by rising water.
