More about Non Nuoc
Non Nuoc is a sand beach break south of Da Nang that delivers consistent waves during the cool season from November through March, driven primarily by northeast groundswells rather than swell from multiple directions. The break works best when offshore winds blow from the west-southwest, which conditions the face and help it peel more gradually. The beach produces both left and right-hand waves of modest power, making it more approachable than nearby point breaks but still capable of producing challenging conditions during typhoon swells, when riptides become a serious hazard to navigate.
Da Nang's surf culture has deep roots, extending back to the American War era when soldiers surfed these breaks, and the local community has maintained a continuous presence since then. Vietnam's first international surfing competition took place at nearby Mỹ Khê Beach in 1992, with the scene gradually growing more competitive and organized; the 2023 Da Nang Invitational drew over fifty international competitors and reflected the establishment of a dedicated local boardriders club with government backing.
Non Nuoc sits roughly twenty minutes south of central Da Nang by taxi or motorbike, positioned near the Marble Mountains on the road toward Hoi An. The beach is open to the public with free access, parking available at main entry points, and it remains quieter than nearby Mỹ Khê Beach, typically maintaining sparse lineups even during the main season.
