More about Nida
Nida is a consistently breaking sandbar on the Lithuanian Baltic coast that works on both left and right peeling sections. Northwest groundswell provides the most reliable shape, and the break responds well when southeast winds blow offshore. Conditions are best at mid to high tide. The break suits all ability levels with 5–6 ft being the workable minimum and overhead-plus possible during strong winter systems. Water temperature sits around 15°C year-round, requiring a full wetsuit.
The surfable window peaks between October and March when Baltic winter storms generate the most frequent and organized swell. The break is exposed and doesn't require particular seasonal variables to work beyond ordinary wind and swell direction.
Nida sits on the Curonian Spit in Neringa municipality, sandwiched between the Curonian Lagoon and the Baltic Sea near Lithuania's southern border. Access requires an electronic permit to enter the national park; parking is payable June–August and free the rest of the year. The town is a low-key resort destination with modest tourism infrastructure, though summer months draw larger crowds.
