More about Nemiña

Nemiña is a beach break at the mouth of the Castro River with a sand bottom backed by granite cliffs, where the Ría de Lires meets the sea. Multiple peaks form along the beach, with the potential for left-hand peeling waves at the river mouth. Waves come reliably on west and northwest swells between 1.5 and 2 meters, working best with northeast offshore winds during mid-tide to rising tide. The beach handles smaller swells well for intermediate surfers, but winter Atlantic storms can push conditions to heavy 3-meter faces with strong currents and demanding paddle-outs.

Nemiña hosted Galicia's first surfing competition, making it historically significant in Spanish surf culture. The spot has become a reference point for regional surfing over recent decades, attracting an international mix of European surfers, particularly from Germany and France.

The beach is located 5 kilometers from Muxía town, accessible by road to a parking area with pedestrian pathways leading down to the 1,250-meter strand. Parking, showers, and basic facilities are available. In summer and September, conditions are most consistent and the beach draws visitors despite its remote Costa da Morte setting near Cape Finisterre.
