More about Marina State Beach

Marina State Beach is a broad, sand-bottomed beach break near the city of Marina that peels in both directions and maintains relatively consistent swell throughout the year. Waves work best when west swells arrive with offshore winds from the east-southeast, and mid rising tide offers the most even shape. The break accommodates intermediate to advanced surfers and attracts light to moderate crowds by local standards.

Marina State Beach was established as a protected state park in 1977. Beyond its designation as a recreational area, the available historical record does not document significant competitions, landmark sessions, or prominent surfers specifically associated with this break.

Direct beach access is available via the main parking lot at the west end of Reservation Road, just off Highway 1. The beach operates from 8 a.m. to sunset, with additional street parking nearby.
