More about Manorbier
Manorbier features both a sandy beach break and a high-tide reef on the western side of the cove that peels as a right-hander over sharp rock. The reef works best when high tide submerges it, producing waves that can exceed 100 meters in length, while the surrounding beach offers both directions depending on conditions. The spot handles southwest swell most effectively, with offshore northeast winds providing the cleanest shape. The break stays active across all tides but peaks between September and February, when larger Atlantic swells arrive. Waves typically range from 3–5 feet on smaller days to 12 feet or more on bigger swells.
Manorbier lies five miles southwest of Tenby in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, accessed via a two-minute walk from a pay car park (approximately £5 per day, free off-season) with around 160 spaces. The beach itself is sandy, though it becomes stony at high tide. An 11th-century Norman castle sits directly above the cove, adding to the visual appeal but offering no shelter from wind or swell.
