More about Majanicho
Majanicho is a right-hand point break over shallow volcanic reef in a sheltered bay on Fuerteventura's north coast. The wave peels consistently as a semi-fast, hollow right-hander, handling conditions from chest high to double overhead. The break is best from mid to high tide, when sufficient water covers the lava rock; at low tide, the reef sits dangerously shallow and a late takeoff risks injury. A large bus-sized rock breaks over the reef at low tide only, requiring awareness of position relative to it. North and northwest swells work best, combined with south or southeast winds for clean offshore conditions, with the most reliable period running October through March, particularly in October.
The spot remains relatively undocumented in terms of competitive history or major competitions. It functions primarily as a working fishing village that has gradually attracted surfers seeking consistent waves away from crowded resort areas on Fuerteventura's coast.
Majanicho sits nine kilometers west of Corralejo along the FV-109 road, or accessible via the north-shore dirt road connecting El Cotillo and Corralejo. The village of roughly one hundred residents consists of whitewashed houses arranged around a small bay and lacks electricity or catering facilities. Parking is available near the village, though early arrival is recommended during peak conditions. The channel leading to the break creates a relatively safe paddle-out, making access manageable even in solid swell.
