More about Los Lobos
Los Lobos breaks as a right-hander peeling down the side of a small volcanic island roughly one kilometer off Corralejo on Fuerteventura's northeastern coast. The wave runs between 300 and 500 meters down the island's flank over a shallow lava reef, producing hollow, fast sections and long connected peels that reward strong surfers. It handles swell from 0.9 to 2.4 meters plus, working best on north to northwest groundswell with southeast winds, and mid-tide is the cleanest stage, though it breaks through most tidal ranges. Winter months from October through March are most consistent, with January being peak season.
The break is an expert-only wave requiring advanced paddling strength and wave knowledge, exclusive to shortboards or guns depending on size. The shallow volcanic reef creates real consequences for mistakes. The island remains relatively quiet compared to Fuerteventura's main breaks, though that remoteness does not prevent regular crowds.
Access requires a ferry from Corralejo harbour, departing every 30 minutes year-round, at a cost of approximately 15 euros per crossing. The journey itself takes only minutes from the mainland harbor.
