More about Las Labradas

Las Labradas can experience waves reaching 4-6 feet, and the broader Mazatlan area sees consistent south and southwest swell exposure, particularly during the prime season from April through October. The region sits partially in a swell shadow behind Baja, but these southern swells arrive at a favorable angle to produce rideable waves.

The location is much better known as an archaeological site with pre-Hispanic petroglyphs dating to the 8th–13th centuries than as an established surf destination. Specific information about surfing history, notable sessions, or how long the break has been surfed is not available in published sources.

Las Labradas lies on a rocky beach in San Ignacio municipality, approximately 50 kilometers north of Mazatlan on the Pacific coast highway. The archaeological site is accessed via the town of La Chicayota. The Sinaloa coast is noted as carrying elevated safety and security concerns for visitors, separate from typical surf hazards.
