More about Las Galletas
Las Galletas is an exposed reef break on Tenerife's southern coast that works primarily with southern hemisphere swell. The wave typically runs 1 to 1.5 meters and features a right-hander and left-hander peak, though the left side was notably shortened by construction of a pier. The break is fairly consistent through spring and summer when distant groundswells deliver the most reliable waves, and performs best on low tide with northeast offshore winds pushing the swell face.
The break is known for being less crowded than other Canary Islands spots, making it accessible for intermediate and beginner surfers seeking manageable conditions. However, the reef composition includes extremely steep underwater rock formations spread throughout the break, with only narrow channels between them, requiring careful navigation.
Located at Tenerife Sur Airport's southern edge, approximately 9 kilometers away, Las Galletas sits in a developed coastal zone and is readily accessible by road. The spot remains sheltered from heavy crowds compared to more famous breaks across the islands.
