More about La Mision

La Mision is an exposed beach and reef break with both left and right-hand waves, featuring variable peaks along an extensive beach. The southern end is particularly notable for a river mouth that creates shifting sandbars, generating faster, more tubular left-hand waves that favor intermediate to advanced surfers. The break maintains fairly consistent peaks across a range of swell sizes, holding up better than nearby spots even when they close out. Winter swells (particularly January) provide the most frequent rideable conditions, with northwest groundswells and northeast offshore winds creating the cleanest waves. Average faces run 1-2 feet, with sets pushing 3-4 feet.

La Mision sits directly off Mexico's Scenic Toll Road roughly 33 kilometers from Ensenada. Access is straightforward with free and paid parking available close to the beach, plus camping facilities with showers and restrooms at the Km. 62 marker. The beach is uncrowded even during decent swell, offering relative solitude compared to more developed Baja breaks.
