More about Jameos del Agua

Jameos del Agua actually comprises two distinct breaks. The more powerful is a right-hand wave peeling off the left side of the headland, while the secondary break is a left-hand point that can produce long rides exceeding 100 meters when conditions align. Both break over a shallow volcanic reef that demands careful navigation, and water entry is particularly treacherous at high tide over the jagged rock. Best conditions arrive with north-facing Atlantic groundswell combined with west winds; the spot works year-round but sees the most reliable and consistent waves from October through March. The break attracts steady crowds year-round.

Access involves scrambling over volcanic rock to reach the water, which makes tide timing important for both entry and exit. The shallow reef creates hazardous conditions for swimmers and less experienced surfers, and the rocky bottom offers little margin for error on wipeouts.
