More about Haydens rock

Haydens Rock is a right-hand reef break taking off over shallow rock, generating a steep and fast barrel section before easing into a sand pool that accelerates again before closing out on Main Beach. The ride runs roughly 150 metres. It holds northeast swell from 1.5 metres up to 4 metres and beyond, working best on mid to high tide with south wind, though mid-tide appears optimal for shape. The paddle back out is long and demanding.

Grey nurse sharks frequent the waters around the reef, and the takeoff requires solid technique on an unforgiving launch pad.
