More about Guidel

Guidel features a wide sandy beach that produces mellow, rolling waves ideal for progression, with consistent southwest swell and northeast offshore winds creating optimal conditions in spring and early March. The spot transforms significantly with tide—at low and incoming tide it remains a forgiving beach break across its shallow, open shelf, but at higher water it transitions to reef breaks with added complexity and hazard. Rocks line the eastern edge, and the Laïta river mouth to the south generates rips in that sector; the summer season brings reliability but also heavy crowds.

Location access is straightforward: Guidel lies in southern Morbihan, roughly 5 kilometers south of the village center near Lorient, with the primary break (Bas-Pouldu) sitting at the river mouth between estuary and open coast. Parking is abundant and free at several beach lots totaling over 200 spaces, with summer lifeguard presence on the main beaches and easy pedestrian and cycle-path access to the water.
