More about Green ball

Green Ball is a reef break where the right-hand channel moves fast and hollow, responding to south-southwest groundswells paired with occasional northerly offshore winds. Conditions are most manageable around mid-tide, though the wave maintains rideable form across the full tidal range. The outer channel generates significant outgoing current, particularly on the drop, and the shallow reef bottom demands both technique and caution.

Green Bowl holds historical significance as the first wave discovered on Bali's southern peninsula, initially surfed during the wet season by local knowledge-holders. The spot remained purposefully remote for decades, maintaining an underground reputation. A resort development that once proposed cliff-top access via elevator has since ceased operations, leaving the beach returned to its original isolation and appeal to committed surfers.

Reaching the break requires a disciplined descent of approximately 320 concrete steps cut into a 75-meter bluff, shaded throughout but steep enough that the return demands fitness. The bottom is sharp—reef and rock create genuine cutting hazards at lower tides. Tiger sharks patrol these waters occasionally, though no attack record exists. The seclusion and physical commitment inherent to access means the break rarely accumulates crowds despite reliable conditions during the November-to-April season.
