More about Furadouro
Furadouro is a sand beach break with a defined shape maintained by stone jetties that produce peaks breaking both left and right, consistently handling Atlantic groundswell from the west. Mid tide offers the best form in the sandbanks, as very low tide causes waves to either close out or break too abruptly on shallow sections. Easterly winds provide clean offshore conditions. The wave range typically runs 1–8 feet, making it accessible to beginners while offering decent sections for developing surfers. Rocks scattered through the lineup are a genuine hazard to watch.
The beach sits about 3 kilometers from Ovar town center in northern Aveiro, with easy road access and abundant free parking. A pleasant modern promenade runs along the shore with cafés and restaurants. Part of a longer stretch of beach backed by pine dunes, it holds a Blue Flag award and has wheelchair-accessible facilities. Porto airport is roughly 40 minutes away, making it straightforward for traveling surfers to reach.
