More about Fete
Fete is a right-hand point break with a sandy bottom punctuated by rock outcroppings. The wave forms a mellow, well-defined point with workable sections and sloping faces, breaking consistently during the May-to-October swell season when Southern-hemisphere swells arrive. It performs best on south-to-southwest swell with north-northwest offshore wind at low-to-mid tide, and when conditions align, the wave can produce long rides extending a full kilometer down the point.
The break sits in a fishing village setting on a three-kilometer stretch of white-sand beach in Ghana's Central Region, accessed via established resorts including Tills Beach Resort and White Sands. The cliffside terrain behind the point provides some wind shelter, and the wide beach allows visibility and safe passage to the lineup, though paddling is noticeably fatiguing against the tidal current that runs through the bay.
Submerged rocks are the primary hazard to navigate, both on the inside section and around the takeoff zone. The break suits intermediate surfers well; the melow characteristics and defined shape make it forgiving compared to Ghana's steeper reef and beach breaks, though local fishing activity remains constant and shared water use is part of the experience.
