More about erromardie

Erromardie is a mixed sand and pebble beach break that holds waves year-round, with a left-hand wave starting in the southern section that can carry across much of the beach, and a more powerful right-hand break peeling off the northern headland over rock. The spot reaches its peak quality during autumn, particularly October, with favorable conditions arriving on northwest swell and southeasterly winds. The waves range from waist-height to double overhead and suit surfers of varying abilities, though the northern right requires more experience and power to handle.

The break works throughout the tidal range but produces the most defined waves at high tide, when the northern right becomes particularly hollow and tubular. Low to mid tide can work for the gentler left-hand section.

Erromardie sits immediately north of Saint-Jean-de-Luz town center, backed by cliffs and accessible via a parking area along Chemin d'Erromardie with basic amenities including free showers and toilets. A pedestrian path from Chemin de la Côte also provides beach access.
