More about Ekas

Ekas Outside is a steep, hollow left-hand reef break that works best with eastern offshore wind and southeasterly swell, which bends into the reef at the right angle to produce the most barreling sections. High tide is generally preferred for better shape and safer navigation, distinguishing it from the adjacent Inside break. Waves typically range between 4 and 8 feet. While submerged reef poses a hazard, the break benefits from deeper water than many other Lombok reefs, reducing the risk of severe injuries from the shallow shelf. August is historically the most consistent month, with the broader dry season from April through October delivering reliable swells year-round.

Access requires a 45-minute drive from Kuta to the small fishing village of Awang, followed by roughly a half-hour outrigger boat ride across the bay to reach the break. The spot has remained relatively uncrowded compared to other Lombok destinations.
