The break sits 50 to 100 meters north of the northernmost beach access stairs and produces both left and right waves over sand. While the spot receives swell from various directions, northwest swell combined with easterly winds produces the most reliable conditions. The rising tide phase of mid to high tide is optimal. Intermediate surfers make up the core user base, though the break can generate substantial power during strong swell events. Rips are the primary hazard to watch for.
Autumn and winter offer the most consistent waves, with April also delivering good conditions. The spot stays relatively quiet compared to crowded European breaks, typically hosting 10 to 15 surfers on the best days. Beach access is straightforward, with multiple entry points throughout the village. Parking is free from November through February and costs €2.30/hour (capped at €13.80/day) during other months. A train to Alkmaar station followed by bus line 166 provides public access to the village center, which is just a few minutes' walk from the beach.
