More about Dunes
Dunes is a mellow, consistent beach break on a sandy bottom north of La Fonda that works reliably across all tidal stages. Summer conditions bring the most consistent rideable waves, with the best results arriving on southwest swell paired with northeast offshore wind. Wave size remains modest, making it approachable for early learners, and both left and right breaking peaks form along the sand.
Dunes sits within a cluster of accessible breaks in northern Baja—Cantamar Settlement lies just a mile away, and Raul's and other spots cluster nearby. The beach remains lightly crowded, offering a straightforward place to paddle out without navigating a packed lineup.
Access from Ensenada is straightforward: the spot is roughly 30 km north of the city center, positioned between Cantamar and La Fonda. No major infrastructure or complications mark the entry; it's a local neighborhood area with direct beach access along the dune landscape that gives the spot its name.
