More about Dreamtime

Dreamtime is a point break at Fingal Head with both left and right-hander peaks, backed by sandy bottom interspersed with rocks. The headland creates a swell-concentrating effect, producing hollow, punchy waves that work best in small to medium swell. Expect strong rip currents along the rocky northern section, and conditions can become rough with big waves during larger swells. The northern corner offers better protection from northeast summer winds and receives more favorable offshore flow during westerly winds.

I found no documented surf history, notable competitions, or surfers specifically associated with Dreamtime. No available sources record when the spot began receiving regular surfing traffic or any significant events held there.

Access involves a shaded walk through coastal rainforest from Lighthouse Parade, where free parking is available but limited. The southern side of Fingal Head is roughly 10–15 minutes' drive south of the Gold Coast across the NSW border. The headland's basalt formations are geologically distinctive—ancient lava flows from Mount Warning approximately 23 million years ago. The beach is unpatrolled and carries substantial hazard warnings related to a permanent boundary rip current; multiple drowning incidents have occurred here in recent years.
