More about Diamond Beach

Diamond Beach is an exposed sandy beach break with inconsistent swell and no clear seasonal pattern, typically providing left and right-hand waves at various tide stages. When conditions align—southeast groundswell with northwest offshore winds—the spot can offer beginner-friendly, gentle waves due to shallow water, though it clears up cleanly only about a third of the time in peak season. The break responds poorly to wind from other directions and gets blown out roughly half the time even in September, its most consistent month.

No documented notable competitions, specific historical sessions, or surfers are associated with Diamond Beach in published records. The broader Jersey Shore surfing scene organized competitively only after 1963 when the Jersey Surfing Association formed, but Diamond Beach itself does not appear in early regional contest histories.

Access is via Ocean Drive/Pacific Avenue into Lower Township. Free parking is available, though sections of Diamond Beach are gated property of beach clubs and resorts—verify public access before driving out. Rip currents are a real hazard here, and the shallow water and inconsistent conditions mean sessions tend to be brief or flat.
